Unfortunately my internship is over along with the semester.
Right at the time that I’m getting really comfortable work at the office it
comes to a end. It was a nice experience and I would do it all over again if I could.
Some last things I did in the office were I had to do a lot of errands for the
campaign. The coolest two that I had to do were go to the bank and pick up
pictures. This doesn’t sound very thrilling but when you think about that I made
a single deposit at the bank for $25,00 which is the most money that I have
ever held at one time. I was excited that they trusted me with that amount of
money. Also getting the pictures was nice because I got to approve the print of
them which show a little trust in me again. Overall the day was once again
filled with getting things ready for events. I’ve become very efficient at
doing those types of tasks.

This week was really cool. I didn’t do anything out of the
ordinary but three different congressmen came into the office. They had a big
meeting with Mr. Pence. I wish I could have sat in on the meeting just to
listen to how they talk to each other behind closed doors and what about. That
would have been a great experience to see how the “elites” actually work with
each other. I did have the opportunity to be the first person they saw in the
office which is important because you are the first impression. I put a few
things together before the state dinner which is a huge event in Indianapolis
with about four t five hundred people. I’m
planning on going back again to work because this has been a really busy few
weeks for the campaign. I wish I could be there over the summer when it’s in
full swing.

weekend worrier CS 490 blog
I had a short weekend shift at my internship this week. I had to go in and help get ready for the busy weeks that are coming up for the campaign. The organization has multiple dinners coming up that we send representatives to with material to pass out the attendees. I went in with the person in charge of planning the events and started to fill bins with the things that will be needed at the events. It was nice to work with a higher up worker who plans events and find out what he thinks is important on his end of the campaign. I look forward to going in this week and finding out how the events went for the group.

Further elaboration of my last post. I learned how to manage myself without other supervision. I was in a area all day where it would be easy to slack off and drag out the work. I felt as if I could meet their goals and also surpass them it would leave a great impression and show that I care about the organization. I think I should that to them and am hop full that it didn't go unnoticed. It's important that they can trust me on my own even if it's a simple task like I've had this week.

Signs Sings Sings
This week I put together over one thousand signs for the campaign. I didn't mind doing this at all. I sat outside with another intern and just played music while doing it. I think we made the other employees jealous because we had the time to enjoy the nice weather and get a little sun on our faces.

GS 490 Blog
This week was back to the basics. I was in charge of plugging information from possible donors into a data base so that they may be contacted later about events or donations. The office is running really smoothly because everyone is doing the same job over and over again just to different people and counties in Indiana. It’s almost like an assembly line if you think about it. Someone sets up the events, another gets the names at the events, someone else compiles the names (AKA me), and then others contact them with information. It’s very efficient this way but makes for some long hours.

CS 490 Blog Elliott Stewart
This week I had the opportunity to do something different outside of the office. The campaign has been distributing yard signs across Indiana. I had to pick up the signs and drive to four different counties in Indiana dropping them off to county coordinator so that they can distribute them to the people in that area. It wasn’t much work just about five hours driving and finding the drop off place. They have had people doing this for the past few weeks for every county in Indiana. It was fun in the morning when I did some logistics work trying to find the best routes and plan on when I could meet the people to drop the signs off. It was kind of nice because the campaign reimburses your gas by the mile so I ended up getting more money then I actually spent on gas.
